Billiard Artistique

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Billard Artistique , formerly also known as Kunststoss in Germany, is a carom variant that is played according to the basic rules of the free game . The aim is to touch the other two balls with the cue ball. An aggravating difference to the other variants of the carom billiards is to solve certain figure requirements in a maximum of three attempts, which vary in their difficulty and score.

Similarities and differences to other variants of the carom billiards

In Billiard Artistique today - similar to three- cushion billiards - most tournaments are played according to the set system ( best of 3 or best of 5 ). A set consists of 10 figures to be played, each of which gives a different number of points. The maximum number of points that can be achieved is 75 by appropriately distributing the figures in each set.

In contrast to all other types of billiards, the game is not played continuously. H. the player does not take over the position of the opponent at the table, but each player plays his pieces for himself in a maximum of three attempts and gets these set up by the referee.

With increasing difficulty you get more points for a successfully solved figure. The number of points varies between 5 and 10 points, whereby it is irrelevant with which of the maximum three attempts the figure was solved. There are 100 different figures in total.

Figure A10 (No. 68) illustrates the difficulty of a 10-point shot. In this figure, the cue ball is placed in the opposite corner of the target balls that are close together. To achieve this goal, an obstacle must be circled. This is only possible with a so-called headbutt, in which the cue is raised at the back and the cue ball is given a corresponding spin .

German championships

German championships in billiard artistique have been held since 1975. While there were several different winners up to 1990 (seven times Gert Tiedtke , three times Norbert Schmidt, twice Werner Hutmacher, once each: Günther Brockshus and Ralf Laakmann), Thomas Ahrens dominated from 1991 , who won twelve titles by 2006. Only three times - in 1998, 2003 and 2004 - the title went to his greatest competitor Jan Osterloh . Only in 2007 did Baris Çin , a new name appear in the list of winners. A new German champion was also crowned in 2010: Bernd Singer from Ingolstadt finally managed to win the title after losing several finals.

The billiard performance center in Bottrop had proven itself as a venue in the 1990s . The championships from 1990/91 and from 1992 to 2005 were held here. The games were held in Bottrop in 1987/88, but at that time in the atrium of the vocational school.

Since the amalgamation of all German billiards championships in the 2005/2006 season, the German championships in Billard Artistique in Bad Wildungen have taken place simultaneously with all other disciplines.

In Germany, the Artistique scene is managed and kept alive by Artistique-Billard-Deutschland eV. In charge here were the president and co-founder Heinz-Walter Kohlmeier and Franz Heigl as vice president for the sports sector. Both functionaries have been successful artists themselves for many years with high rankings and international experience. Dirk Roos has been President and first point of contact since 2018.
