3-ball or 3-ball is a discipline of pool billiards in which three numbered object balls and the white cue ball are played on a pool table. The aim of the game is to punch all three balls in as few shots as possible after the kick-off .

regulate

The general rules of pocket pool do not apply to this discipline. Balls do not have to enter a fence, both when kicking off and in play. The hole does not have to be announced beforehand.

Goal of the game

3-Ball is based on a point system. After the kick-off, you have to try as few shots as possible to sink all three balls lying on the table. Every push, including the push, counts as a point. Since here, similar to golf , the number of shots required is counted one after the other, there is no change of recordings in contrast to pool. Missing a shot counts as a shot, but the acting player remains at the table. In the event of a foul, the player receives an additional penalty point and must continue playing the cue ball from the point of kick-off.

construction

The structure is in the form of a triangle with no recognizable pattern.

Game win

The winner of the game is the player who needs the fewest strokes in a game round. If there is a tie, a new round begins.

particularities

Since 3-ball is even more dependent than other disciplines such as 9-ball on the luck at the kick-off and less on the skill of the player, it is particularly popular with beginners or change gamers. A ring game variant with more than two participants is therefore also common. The appeal of the game becomes apparent as soon as it is necessary to sink several balls with one push, for example to get a lower score than the usual 4 ("break and run out").
