De Staat is an alternative rock band from Nijmegen in the Netherlands .

history

De Staat was originally a one-man project by the singer Torre Florim, who formed the band . They recorded their first demo in 2007 in Florim's apartment. Even before they signed a record deal, they were a well-known band as their performances were very well received in the Netherlands. You were also the opening act for the Belgian band dEUS .

The band signed a record deal in 2008 and released their debut album , Wait for Evolution , in early 2009 , on which all songs were composed and produced by Florim himself. He wrote the album as a graduation project for his music production studies. Not only did he produce his own album himself, the Dutch band Go Back to the Zoo's debut album was also produced by him in 2008. Within a year De Staats rose to prominence and they played at festivals like Glastonbury , Sziget and Lowlands . They were discovered at the Lowlands Festival by Chris Goss , who introduced them to Mascot Records, whereupon their album Wait for Evolution was released internationally in 2010 .

The band has since released their second album Machinery in March 2011 and their third work I_CON in September 2013 .
