Panteón Rococó is the name of a Mexican Latin Ska / Mestizo band that was formed in Mexico City in 1995 .

They also go on tour regularly in Europe , preferably in Germany , where they appear at various festivals . In the summer of 2008 they supported the rock band Die Ärzte at some concerts as the opening act.

In Europe the band is represented by the Hanover label Übersee-Records .

Music style and lyrics

The musicians make use of various musical genres such as rock , punk , salsa , cumbia , mariachi , reggae or ska , which is also known as mestizo music , and mix it with very danceable, energetic music, with socially critical pieces and love songs alternating.

Band line-up

Self-image

“La música es una flor, la música es una expresíon, la música es alimento” (The music is a flower, the music is expression, the music is food): The band's third album begins with this commitment by one of the leaders of the Mexican Zapatistas , Comandante Zebedeos.

Panteón Rococó, like many of their Latin American music colleagues, are serving this movement, which has been fighting for the rights of the indigenous people in the Mexican province of Chiapas for several years . The group of around ten and various guest musicians provide the “food” music.
