Petrol was a German rock band from the Ulm area.

Band history

The band was founded in Asch in 1996 . The name came about after the band was forbidden by Mars Inc. USA to keep the name Uncle Benz . After the old name had to be abandoned, the band members recorded the official VfB fan anthem Stuttgart is one under the name Sternsurfer and were included in the band pool of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg . Shortly afterwards the band changed to the new name Petrol .

The band's debut album was released on February 10, 2006 with the soundtrack for your weekend . On May 9th, 2008 came Auf los geht's los , with the singles So far away and Cottbus im Regen . On February 19, 2010 the album Matchbox Masterplan was released .

In autumn 2010 a 3 track EP was released on Hamburg Records and in January 2012 the album Chor der Kaputten , the first to be made available to a wider audience and to make it to number 9 in the German Alternative Charts. The first single from it ( Schutt und Asche ) achieved great recognition and got respectable airplay in several major radio and TV stations. On September 21, 2012 they released their second single Chor der Kaputten .

In April 2015, the formation announced the dissolution on its website. With the motto calm after the storm , the band gave farewell concerts in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Ulm.
