history
The band was founded in 2014 by singer Felix Schönfuss after his actual band, Mrs. Potz, agreed on an indefinite break. Not least because of Schönfuss' distinctive voice, his lyrics and a generally similar style of music, Adam Angst is often compared to Ms. Potz, but Schönfuss has repeatedly emphasized in interviews that he sees Adam Angst as an independent project and not just as Frau Potz's successor. The demarcation to Ms. Potz is satirized - self-ironically - in the song Punk with the lines “And fire your singer, this 'something with -foot' / Ms. Potz was murdered for a boy band with tattoos”.
The name refers to the fictional person “Adam Angst” invented by Schönfuss, who is supposed to reflect the average citizen. He is “(...) just like us. (...) He is hypocritical, he is arrogant and also pretends to be your best friend! "
In 2015 Adam Angst released the single Splitter von Granaten . 100% of the proceeds were donated to Pro Asyl .
The band became known in February 2015 with the release of their debut album on the Grand Hotel van Cleef label , which they combined with a tour in March. The other band members also play with FJØRT and Monopeople. The bassist Christian Kruse previously played with Waterdown .
In 2017 Adam Angst released a split LP together with the band Donots , which was released on the record company Solitary Man Records of Donots and Warner Music . It was the band's first release on a major label . The second album Neintology followed in 2018 .
