Waterdown was a post-hardcore - band of Osnabrück . Waterdown was founded in 1999 and consisted of five members. In early 2012, the band announced their breakup.
history
In 1999 the band was founded in its original formation and consisted of former members of various bands from the Ibbenbüren area . The first songs appeared the following year on the EP drawasmilingface on Two Friends Recordings. During her tour of Germany supporting Grade , the US punk label Victory Records became aware of Waterdown and signed her. This made Waterdown the first German band with a contract with this influential label.
In 2001 the first album was released with the title Never Kill the Boy on the First Date , which was followed by a tour of Europe and America.
With The Files You Have on Me , the second album was released of 2003. In 2004 singer Marcel Bischoff left the band for personal reasons.
In 2005, the new singer Michael "Zacken" Janczak was added, with whom the album All Riot was recorded. Was produced All Riot by Ingo Knollmann of the Donots . The album was released in late January 2006.
In mid-2007, the band broke away from their record company Victory Records. Waterdown stated that Victory Records had downright exempted them and even asked fans at a concert to download their albums from the Internet. This is to their advantage and to the disadvantage of their record company. After a few months without a record company, the band released the self-produced EP Powersnake on May 16, 2008 on Blacktop Records.
In early 2012 the band announced their breakup on their website. The last album, Into the Flames , was released on March 23, 2012 via Uncle M / Cargo Records. A farewell tour through Germany took place in April and May 2012.
Christian Kruse now plays bass with Adam Angst .
style
The style of the band is characterized on the one hand by harmonious melody lines, the hard, bellowed vocals and the sung part, on the other hand by breakdowns, the hard distorted guitars and pounding mosh parts. Basically, the band can be assigned to post-hardcore , metallic new-school hardcore and rock influences complete the picture.
It is therefore often compared to boysetsfire and similar post-hardcore bands.
