The Trashmonkeys were a German-British Mod - Revival - band from Bremen , Hamburg and Cologne .

history

The band was founded in 1998 and was initially a trio. The music of the Trashmonkeys is a synthesis of the timbres of the 1960s and 1970s and finds a synergetic connection to the contemporary forms of garage rock and finally elements of pop punk and power pop .

The debut album Trashmonkeys was created in the year it was founded. It was not a commercial success. This was largely due to the fact that the Weser label on which the record was published filed for bankruptcy shortly after it was published. The Trashmonkeys played in the same year as the opening act for the Cramps and later as the opening act for the Hives and the Hellacopters .

The second album Clubtown was released in 2002 on the London label Acid Jazz . The band was now a quartet. With Clubtown the trashmonkeys made a name for themselves in England. The Italian TV show "le iene" chose the song Sundays as the theme song .

In the summer of 2004, the Trashmonkeys' third album entitled The Maker was released on the Hamburg independent record label L'age d'or . On August 18, 2006, the fourth album Favorite Enemy followed, also via L'age d'or. In April 2009, their fifth album, Smile , was released on XNO Records .

The band gave about 50 concerts a year; she toured clubs all over Europe for several years and also performed in Japan. In 2009 the Trashmonkeys took part in the Jägermeister rock league, where they competed in their group with the bands Friska Viljor (Sweden) and Electric Six (USA).

At the end of October 2012 the band announced their breakup, citing personal reasons as the main factor. Offer Stock, Milo, Dennis Rux and Gunnar Riedel subsequently founded the band Rhonda . Andreas Wolfinger is active in the music groups Gruppe 80 and Gestatten, Projekt Schulz , founding member Daz Fralick had already left the band in summer 2011 for personal reasons.
