MOFA is a punk rock band from Cologne, founded in 2008 . The name is an acronym stands for M a O hr f like everything a b.
history
The band members had already played together in various groups before the MOFAs were founded, most recently from 2002 to 2008 in the direct predecessor project, the German punk band Se Sichelzecken . Flo V. Schwarz from Hamburg Records became aware of them, and in April 2008 MOFA were founded in Cologne . In September they released their first EP on Hamburg Records, which aroused the interest of magazines such as Visions , and toured with label colleagues such as Sondaschule . After more than 150 concerts and festivals since its release, the first album Punk Rock Fuck Off was released in September 2009 , which landed at number eleven in the German Alternative Charts. The single Tiger reached number three on the MTV rock charts. During the course of the album you toured with bands like Therapy? , Montreal or The Generators.
Since 2010 the band has given concerts less often for personal reasons. In April 2013 the band made their live comeback at the KeinKultur Festival in Bonn with Pascow and Captain Planet , in December of the same year MOFA played in Underground Cologne as the opening act for Montreal and also announced that they would play more gigs again in the future . In both appearances, the band did not wear tennis clothes for the first time after a concert in Cologne's Sonic Ballroom in January 2010. In May 2014 it was announced on the official MOFA Facebook page that Se Sichelzecken , the predecessor project of MOFA, is giving an exclusive comeback concert in the opening act of the Dutch punk rock band Bambix on June 13, 2014 in Wermelskirchen.
Parts of MOFA also play in bands such as Quader , singer and guitarist Oile Lachpansen regularly appears solo under this name and, in addition to many original compositions, also plays MOFA songs.
Trivia
- Mopeds always appear in tennis clothes and could only be seen in these clothes at press events.
- The debut album Punk Rock Fuck Off was recorded in the same studios in which Herbert Grönemeyer recorded his successful album Bochum .
- The video for Tiger was shot in a castle in Eastern Hungary. The porn actress Michelle Wild was involved in the production.
