Abby is a German alternative band from Berlin . Her musical style is primarily shaped by the 1970s and also has strong influences from contemporary electronic music and classical music .
history
The five founding members Filou, Lorenzo, Tilly , David and Henne got to know each other in Mannheim and first introduced themselves to their audience in 2009 under the band name Abby. First, the band distributed the self-produced EP Since We Moved On at first concerts and via their website.
In 2011, the first official EP Welcome Home , which was also produced in-house, was released in cooperation with the Berlin indie label Snowhite . On July 5, 2013, the debut album Friends & Enemies was released on Universal / Island Records . The album was produced in collaboration with Swedish producer Andreas Olsson in London's Kensaltown Studios. The bonus track We Don't Worry contained on it was used in the soundtrack of the feature film Ending .
The band played internationally at the Iceland Airwaves Festival, Glastonbury Festival, South-by-Southwest Festival and appeared as the opening act for Get Well Soon , Everything Everything and ... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead on.
At the beginning of 2014, the recording and writing sessions for a second album began in Berlin, which the band has now produced itself again without outside help. On August 28, 2015, Hexagon was released on Universal / Island Records . This includes two song collaborations: Birth together with Pan-Pot and the album title track Hexagon with Brandt Brauer Frick .
In addition to their performances as a live band, from mid-2014 the band developed the so-called ABBY-SYSTEM , a kind of electronic techno live set with an increased focus on the ability to dance in clubs. This allowed ABBY to compete with Pan-Pot and Max Cooper evenings at the Watergate Club , among others .
Networking with other musicians
Apart from Abby, the band members are rooted in Berlin's music scene. So hen and Lorenzo jointly produce under the name Feeling Valencia , among others, Techno - and House Music , her studio is located in Berlin's Riverside Studios. Filou is a guest singer on the tracks of various DJs ( George Morel , Steve Nash, Santé etc.), Tilly works as a studio and live musician at Apparat .
