Band history
The Monsters of Liedermaching (also called Die Monsters for short ) came together on the occasion of the Hamburg “Rock Spectacle” in 2003, where they were supposed to appear one after the other as solo artists. Instead, they put beer benches on the stage and performed the performance together. On the fly, each of them sang individual songs, while the others supported the speaker with singing or spontaneous shows.
After this performance was very well received by the audience, the individual artists decided to perform together more often in the future. This decision was made in the “Querschlag” pub in Clausthal-Zellerfeld .
The band has a close connection to Open Flair , where the band has performed every year since 2004.
In 2014 the band announced that they would like to take a break to pursue their activities in the solo projects / their own bands. So the monsters were not represented at the Open Flair after 10 years. However, this break was short-lived - their next tour started in the summer of 2015 with a renewed appearance at the [[ Open-Flair ]] festival.
On September 15, 2017, “For Everyone” was the first studio album in the band's history.
Music and lyrics
The repertoire of the Monsters of Liedermaching consists primarily of the solo material of the individual members. Jens Burger and Frederick Timm also use pieces that were originally played by Die Schröders and Norbert und die Feiglinge . There are now also songs specially written for the Monsters of Liedermaching. However, they do not have a given, continuous musical line. Each member has their own personal style and is not dependent on the cooperation of others when performing their songs. During the performance, however, they usually appear through harmony singing and with individual pieces through special gimmicks. Most song lyrics are cheeky, ironic or playfully bizarre, depending on the artist.
