The Audience was a rock band from Hersbruck near Nuremberg . Their music is a mixture of punk , disco , new wave and pop .

history

The Audience was founded in 2003. The band made their first appearances in the opening act for The Robocop Kraus . Also in 2003, the band's first release was the EP The Audience . The debut album Celluloid was released in 2007 by Hazelwood Vinyl Plastics . Concerts and appearances at music festivals in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Italy and the Netherlands followed. The Audience has supported The Kooks , The Wombats , Blood Red Shoes , And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead , The (International) Noise Conspiracy , Turbostaat and The Robocop Kraus. At the end of 2008 the second studio album Dancers and Architects was released .

On July 22nd, 2009, the City Council of Nuremberg decided to award the band a “Nuremberg Scholarship” worth 2,500 euros as part of the City of Nuremberg's Culture Prize. The third studio album Hearts (Hazelwood / Avantpop) was released in April 2012.

After Johannes Preiss announced his departure from the band, The Audience disbanded in 2012. The band played their last concert on December 29th at the Muffatwerk in Munich.

Singer Bernd Pflaum then made experimental pop / disco music solo under the name "Bird Berlin" and was thus able to attract some attention throughout Germany.
