Itchy is a three-member German pop-punk - band that from 2001 to 2017 under the name Itchy Poopzkid was active and since April 2017 the go with the new name Itchy. It was created in 2000 in Eislingen / Fils , where the band members went to the same school. The band has played over 900 concerts in Europe, founded their own record company and released seven studio albums and one book.

2000–2004: The beginnings

In the first year, the three musicians limited themselves to covering songs from other bands. In 2001 they decided to change the band's name to Itchy Poopzkid and write songs themselves. In the following years they played as the opening act for Donots , Yellowcard , +44 , boysetsfire and The Bouncing Souls and were invited to several music festivals. Hafner and Friedl swap their instruments during their live concerts and take turns singing. Her song announcements are now also famous, 89 of which can be heard as bonus tracks on her first live album. In 2001 Itchy Poopzkid recorded their first demo album and released the EPs Two Thumbs Down and Having a Time as well as the live CD Fuck-Ups… Live!

2005-2006: Heart to Believe

Itchy Poopzkid signed a record deal with Where are my records , where their first album Heart to Believe was released in late 2005 . To the song Say no! From this album a video was cut, but it was never released as a single. It is only made available for download on their website.

You went on tour in Germany to support the side project of Blink-182 " +44 ".

2007-2008: Time to Ignite

A year and a half later, the second album Time to Ignite followed in spring 2007 . Itchy Poopzkid hit the German charts for the first time with their first single, Silence Is Killing Me . The music videos for this single and other songs by the band were played in heavy rotation on MTV .

Itchy Poopzkid competed against the band Madsen at MTV's band Trip in 2007 and won. As a prize, they were allowed to moderate an episode of the MTV show Rockzone and choose which clips were shown. They were also allowed to perform a live performance at the MTV European Music Awards in Munich.

They also went on tour in Germany with Sum 41 .

In 2008, Itchy Poopzkid only played a few live appearances and focused mainly on the songwriting for the third album.

2009-2010: Dead Serious

The third album Dead Serious was released on January 23, 2009. For the first time in the band's history, an album was also released on vinyl .

In spring 2009 the band toured Germany, Austria and Switzerland. From September 24th 2009 Itchy Poopzkid played in England and from November 25th 2009 another tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland took place. It ended a month later in Ulm.

2010: Lights Out London

After touring Ireland and Sweden in early 2010, the band was busy writing new songs and completing the fourth album. Announced was a single called Why Still Bother , for which an accompanying music video had already been shot, which, in collaboration with the WDCS ( Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society ), draws attention to the sonars in the sea that are dangerous for animals and on October 21, 2010 appeared.

On February 25, 2011 the album Lights Out London was released , which was also released under the 2011 self-founded label "Findaway Records". Under this label they also re-released their first three albums with many, partially unreleased, bonus tracks.

On January 31, 2011, Itchy Poopzkid announced on their website that the drummer Tobias Danne was leaving the band on the grounds that the situation with his own record label would be too stressful and time-consuming for him. He was replaced by the band's longtime drum and light technician, Max Zimmer.

After Itchy Poopzkid had reached the highest chart entry in the band's history at number 35 with the album Lights out London , they went on tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland from March to May. The band Attack! Attack! from Wales.

The Itchy Poopzkid song The Living from the album Dead Serious became the theme song of the 2011 television advertising campaign for the Suzuki car brand .

2013: Ports & Chords

On January 25, 2013, their new album Ports & Chords will be released in various versions, again on the band's own label "Findaway Records", and will enter the German album charts at number 27. The album includes features with artists such as Charlotte Cooper (The Subways) and Guido Knollmann (Donots). In March and April the band will play the accompanying tour with the supports MxPx (USA) and Marathonmann . Music videos of the songs We Say So , I Believe and The Pirate Song appear .

After Itchy Poopzkid appeared at some European festivals in summer and autumn 2013 and released another video for the song Tonight , they are touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland from October to December. The opening act occur Mega! Mega! from Berlin.

2015–2016: Six

After the band spent 2014 songwriting and studio recording, their sixth album Six was released on April 10, 2015 . A video of the song Out there was released in December 2014 and the single Dancing in the sun at the end of March 2015 . In the video for this song, the band received support from many NGOs such as Sea Shepherd , Amnesty International , PETA , Ocean Care and Greenpeace .

Six entered the album charts at number 5 in Germany, at number 35 in Austria and at number 80 in Switzerland. This is the band's highest chart position to date in all three countries. Shortly after the album was released, the band went on a club tour in five German cities.

At the beginning of September the book How To Survive As A Rock Band was published as an independent product in stores, which went into the second edition shortly after publication. The single Kings & Queens , accompanied by a music video, was also released in September.

In October and November 2015 the band played a major tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland with 24 concerts. After a short tour through the Czech Republic, another major concert tour through the German-speaking region and many European open-air festivals in 2016, Itchy Poopzkid celebrated her 15th band birthday with an anniversary concert in Ulm. After the concert, the band withdrew for a creative break.

2017–2018: All We Know and name change

On April 7, 2017, the band announced that they would from now on perform under the name Itchy and at the same time released the first single ( Nothing ) of the album All We Know , which will be released on July 21 . The second single Keep It Real followed on May 19 , as well as the third pre-release Fall Apart in early July, shortly before the album was released.

In addition to festivals in many European countries, Itchy also played a support tour for the US band Bad Religion in the summer.

In autumn 2017 Itchy released the single The Sea , for which a music video was shot in cooperation with the marine protection organization Ocean Care on Mallorca. In the video and the associated campaign, attention is drawn to the issue of plastic waste pollution in the world's oceans. Some of the band's fans were also involved in various beach cleanups on land and under water.

The period between November 2017 and May 2018 included major tours through Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland, as well as the extraction of the song Black with a music video consisting of live scenes from the All-We-Know-Tour. Also in 2018 for the band anniversary of her good friends, Jennifer Rostock's song My Microphone was covered - the first time Itchy recorded a song in German.
