Irie Révoltés was a Heidelberg band that last consisted of nine musicians and was active from 2000 to 2017. The father of the brothers "Mal Élevé" and "Carlito" comes from France ; many texts are sung in French . Irie comes from the Jamaican creole language patois and can be translated as "positive", "happy" or "free". Révoltés stands for "insurgent" in French. In their French and German song lyrics, the band deals with socially critical issues and is politically part of the left milieu, as they openly reveal with song lyrics and appearances at left events, such as the one for the preservation of the Rote Flora before the G20 summit . History and background

Irie Révoltés were founded in 2000 in Heidelberg . In the following years the current line-up was formed. For years the band has performed on the main stages of major festivals in Germany , Switzerland and the Czech Republic and has played over 500 concerts in 25 countries during this time. Irie Révoltés also played regularly at demonstrations - including at the G20 summit in front of the left-wing autonomous Rote Flora center - and fundraising events to support political and social projects.
