Sithathoriunet , also Sit-Hathor-Iunet or Sat-Hathor-Iunit , actually Sathuthoriunet , was an ancient Egyptian king daughter of the 12th Dynasty ( Middle Kingdom ), whose grave was found in Al-Lahun near the pyramid of Sesostris II .

Assignments

Because of the reference to Sesostris II, it is assumed that she was the daughter of this ruler, without this being proven. Jewelery in her tomb also name the name of Amenemhet III. , which is why it can be assumed that she lived until his reign.

Sithathoriunet became particularly important because a niche was found in its burial chamber during excavations carried out by the British School of Archeology under the direction of Flinders Petrie in 1914 that had been overlooked by grave robbers . This contained numerous first-class jewelry in various chests.

The pieces of jewelry include, among other things, two pectorals , a golden crown, various chains and bracelets. The jewelry found here is one of the most artistically outstanding works from ancient Egypt .

The wood of the chests had long gone by when the tomb was found, but some of them could be reconstructed from the inlays that adorned them.

A mirror, razor blades and other objects related to female beauty care were also found .
