Alliance Dresden Nazi-free

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The alliance Dresden Nazifrei is an association of anti-fascist individuals, parties and organizations in southeast Saxony. The alliance organized the resistance against the neo-Nazi commemorations in Dresden, against the Pegida movement that had originated in Dresden, and showed solidarity with refugees in Dresden , Freital , Heidenau and many other places in Saxony. The alliance strongly opposes the instrumentalization and reinterpretation of the commemoration of February 13, 1945 by groups of the New Right , Pegida and right-wing and right-wing extremist parties like the AfD and NPD .

history

Anti-fab blockade in Dresden 2010

The alliance “Nazi Free! - Dresden stands across "was created in October 2009 as a cross-spectrum alliance of people, parties and organizations with the aim of the then largest annual parade of neo-Nazis in Europe as part of the commemoration of February 13, 1945 (the beginning of the heaviest air raids on Dresden ) to be prevented by peaceful mass blockades . Since then, the alliance has been the main organizer of the various counter-demonstrations on these anniversaries.

In 2010, around 5000 neo-Nazis - 3000 fewer than expected - were unable to carry out their march and had to limit themselves to a stand rally in front of Dresden-Neustadt train station . The blockades of thousands of counter-demonstrators, some tolerated and some forcibly cleared by the police, meant that the police were unable to secure the march on any possible route and therefore prohibited and prohibited it.

Also on February 13 and 19, 2011 (anniversary and the following Saturday), the presence of numerous counter-demonstrators prevented a march by right-wing extremists after the municipal bans on the Nazi demonstrations had failed. On February 19, there were sit-ins and riots in which, for example, left-wing demonstrators broke police chains. Around 200 right-wingers attacked the alternative housing project Praxis in Löbtau undisturbed by the police.

After the xenophobic riots in Heidenau, the alliance held large rallies against xenophobia in Dresden on August 21 and 22, 2015, and helped organize the welcome party on August 22 in Heidenau.

activities

The alliance's core working points are:

  • Prevention of relevant public right-wing extremist activities and racist actions in Dresden.
  • Protest against the institutionalized commemoration in connection with the bombing of Dresden around February 13, 1945 and the “victim myth”. In contrast, the culture of remembrance in Dresden should be shaped year-round and sustainably with our own projects.
  • Supraregional solidarity with anti-fascist actions against right-wing extremist activities, organizational support for solidarity rallies for refugees in Schneeberg, Heidenau and Freital, among others.

"Traces of perpetrators" dunning process

Since 2011, the alliance Dresden Nazi-free has been calling on February 13th, the anniversary of the air raids on Dresden , to take part in a “traces of perpetrators” warning. At various stations in the city it is shown that Dresden, like most other German cities, was shaped by the Nazi system. The aim is to raise awareness of the Nazi history of Dresden and thus set a "counterpoint" to the official urban politics of remembrance.

Awards

In 2012 the alliance Dresden Nazifrei was awarded the Saxon Prize for Democracy and the Peace Prize of the Society for the Protection of Civil Rights and Human Dignity . In 2015, the alliance was awarded the Smart Hero Award and nominated for the German Engagement Prize.
