Marla Glen (born January 3, 1960 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American singer . She has lived in Germany since 1998 .

Artistic work

Marla Glen's music combines elements from blues , soul and jazz and is dominated by her smoky voice. When performing, she emphasizes her masculine appearance with her clothing (pinstripe suit, man's hat, tie and cigar).

Marla Glen conquered the European music market with her album This Is Marla Glen from 1993. Individual songs by Marla Glen were released for TV and cinema spots, such as the song Believer she wrote in 1995 as a commercial for the clothing company C&A and her cover version in 2000/2001 of the James Brown song It's a Man's Man's Man's World in the commercial for the men's fragrance Tabac .

Private life

On July 2, 2004, she entered into a civil partnership with Sabrina Conley in Heilbronn , from which she however separated again.
