It's a Man's Man's Man's World is a 1966 James Brown song written by himself and Betty Jean Newsome . The song was released on the album of the same name and lasts 2:52 minutes.

history

The content of the song is based on the observations of James Brown's then partner, Betty Jean Newsome. The world was built by men, in the form of cars, trains and electricity, but without women it was worthless. Together with Brown, she wrote the song and gave it the title It's a Man's Man's Man's World , based on the comedy Eine total, totally crazy world (original title: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World ). In later legal battles aimed at clarifying how many royalties Brown owed Newsome, Newsome claimed that Brown did not write any part of the lyrics.

Although the music magazine Rolling Stone described the song as "biblically chauvinistic", it voted it at number 123 of the 500 best songs of all time (in the 2010 updated version of the list, number 124).
