Boppin'B is a music group from Aschaffenburg that has been active since 1985 . The band's stylistic roots are in rock 'n' roll and rockabilly of the 1950s. They also integrate elements from Ska , Swing , Punk and Pop . Boppin'B has played over 5000 concerts to date and sold over 100,000 units of their twelve albums to date.
Musical development
Boppin'B was originally put together by guitarist Golo Sturm and drummer Thomas Weiser for a one-off performance at a school festival at their high school . Both played together in different formations for years. Former classmate Dirk Hartmann, who appeared as a member of a rockabilly band (Blue Moon Boys) in the Aschaffenburg district, was won over as a singer. Uli Monjau from the same school year joined them as bass player. After the successful appearance as "Boppin 'Bunny & The Be Bop Boys", it was decided to continue as a band together.
The first official appearance followed in late autumn 1985 in what was then Aschaffenburg's “Irish Pub” under the new band name “Boppin 'B.”. Over time, more and more appearances were added, and the band earned increasingly good reputations. In 1989 the group found an independent label in the Rhein-Main area with "VAMP-Records" , which released their first LP Bee-Bop . This laid the foundation for a career that lasted decades, especially as an energetic live band.
In 2005, Boppin'B opened for Dick Brave & the Backbeats , which gave them another boost in popularity. They recorded a full rockabilly- style record of Sasha hits (including If You Believe , We Can Leave The World ) , which was also listed in the music charts . In February 2020, the band released their latest album currently We Do not Care .
Trivia
When performing live, Boppin'B are traditionally insulted by their fan base with the antiphrasis “Scheißkapelle”, usually as an answer to the question “Do you feel alright ?!”.
