Johann König (actually Johannes Köhn , born June 21, 1972 in Soest ) is a German comedian . He used to call himself Johann Köhnich and jokingly gives René Otzenköttel as his maiden name .

Life

Vocational training

Before and during the early days of his career as a comedian, he trained as a children's nurse in Lippstadt and study at the German Sport University Cologne and the Special Education Faculty of Cologne, which he described as physical education teachers for the secondary level has been completed.

Career

In 1997, König made his first public appearance at the open microphone in the former ZapZarap in Cologne . In 1998 his first short appearances followed under the name Johann König , which he changed to Johann Köhnich in 1999 . In November 1999 he celebrated the premiere of his solo program Alles Spekulatur! In 2001 he was awarded the German Comedy Prize as “Discovery of the Year”. In January 2001 he began a major tour of Germany with the guitarist Dr. Paul , whose last performance took place on October 4, 2003 in Sömmerda . In the meantime he was honored in 2002 with the Bavarian Cabaret Prize as “whiz kid of the year”.

König became known nationwide with guest appearances on the Harald Schmidt Show . He is also regularly at the Quatsch Comedy Club or the Quatsch Comedy Show and other television programs such as B. NightWash or room free! to guest.

On October 12, 2003, he celebrated the premiere of the program, without rehearsing upwards (east version: without practicing over there ) together with Helmut Sanftenschneider in the Gloria Theater in Cologne . Since 2004 he has called himself Johann König again , because he is "fed up" with the phonetic spelling of his surname. König won the audience award at the large cabaret festival in Berlin's Die Wühlmäuse on June 11, 2005.

The program Johann König Eskaliert premiered in early 2006. On his tour of Germany König was musically accompanied by the "Peruvian plucking machine" Helmut Sanftenschneider. During the performances, he was mostly dressed with knitted hats and ponchos , which are reminiscent of Peruvian costumes .

His book debut “Gestammelte Werke” was published in September 2006 by Lappan-Verlag . It contains comical poems and stories by Johann König. Parallel to the tour dates with the Escalated program , some readings of the book took place in selected clubs. In 2006 and 2007, König had several appearances on television and radio, for example in Zimmer frei! in the WDR or the Pro7 fairy tale hour .

Since May 2007, König has been back as a solo entertainer . On December 18 and 19, 2007, a two-part evening program of his solo show "Johann König escalated" was broadcast on Pro Sieben and on December 22, 2007, König performed at the "Quatsch goes Christmas - The Comedy Christmas Party" on Pro Sieben.

Under the title “10 years Remmi Demmi” he had his anniversary appearance on October 23, 2008 at the International Cologne Comedy Festival . König began his fourth solo tour “Totally Bock auf Remmi Demmi!” In the Schmidt Theater (Tivoli Hamburg) on ​​March 22, 2009. In December of the same year, he also performed at the 18th Arosa Humor Festival .

In May 2011, König had an appearance on the program Satire Gipfel im Erste . In 2011, König was active as an outside reporter for the weekly show . At the beginning of 2012 he published the song "Ich hab Burn-out", in which he pokes up the common disease of burnout .

In November 2012, König's tour “Fire in the house is expensive, go out!” Began, which he ended in 2015. In 2016 he went on tour with his new program “Milchbrötchenrechnung”. Since September 2018 König has been on tour with his program "Jubel, Hustle, Hoarseness".

Characteristic of his performing arts

His trademark is a fragile voice, which comes into play especially when certain words and interjections are emphasized , and his appearance is nervous . König prefers appearances on theatrical stages , not in front of television cameras .

Private life

King's father was the historian Gerhard Köhn (1936–2011), who was director of the city archive in Soest and carried out historical research for his hometown Glückstadt , which received the research documents for the Detlefsen Museum from his estate . Johann König is the father of two daughters and a son (* 2008) whom he jokingly calls "Hein Mück" in "Total Bock auf Remmi Demmi".
