Luluk Purwanto

Luluk Purwanto (born June 25, 1959 in Surakarta ) is an Indonesian jazz musician (violin, vocals).

Purwanto, whose parents are both musicians, studied classical violin in Sydney between 1974 and 1977 after taking private music lessons. During this time he toured America with the Australian Youth Orchestra and then finished her studies in Medan and Yogyakarta . In 1980 she performed with Abadi Soesman's band at the “ Bandung Jazz Masa Bodo Festival”. She then worked with Ireng Maulana and performed with her in an all-star formation at the 1983 Singapore Jazz Festival ; with the fusion band "Bhaskara 85" she took part in 1985 at the North Sea Jazz Festival . In 1986 she founded her own quartet with which she performed at the Jazz Yatra Festival in Mumbai and Delhi . In 1987 she worked with Jarmo Hoogendijk , Ernst Reijseger , René van Helsdingen and others on the record project “Asai Harum” (not published). Purwanto was also on tour with Wolfgang Schmid and Chris Beckers . Since the late 1980s she has been on several guest tours with the trio of her partner Rene van Helsdingen through the Netherlands and Central Europe, but also to Australia, Greece and Canada. It also occurs regularly on Java .
