Chris Beckers

Christiaan "Chris" Beckers (born October 28, 1953 in Laren (North Holland) ) is a Dutch guitarist of fusion jazz .

Live and act

Beckers, who grew up in Germany from 1964, is self-taught and, like most guitarists of his generation, initially influenced by Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix , but also by Frank Zappa . First he was active from 1975 as a blues musician with the Backwater Bluesband ; he switched to jazz in 1980. On his third album Nightmoves (1983) Gerry Brown and Dick Morrissey were involved. He then worked in the United States with musicians such as Ernie Watts , Alex Acuña , Abe Laboriel , Paulinho da Costa , Billy Cobham , Peter Erskine and Jimmy Haslip , who participated in his next records. After the release of Night Moves a promotional tour of Japan followed, where his music appeared on Polydor KK . In the following years Chris Beckers released other albums: High Tension (1985), Chris Beckers (1987), Wild Kingdom (1993), Messenger Of Truth (2001) and Seven Frames Of Mind (2009).

On his CrisCrazz label, founded in 1983 , he released his own recordings as well as albums by Eef Albers , Wolters & Vermuyen and Free Kick. His compositions are regularly used on radio and television. As a producer and accompanist he worked for Jump'n Jive , Jimi Bellmartin , Free Kick and René Engel . In recent years he has also dealt with world music and has worked with Rasiko , Radjinder , Marcelo Godoy , Dipankar , Mostar Revival or the Iraqi Maqam Ensemble & Farida .
