The Rocco del Schlacko is an open-air - music festival that annually since 1999 Püttlingen in Saarland takes place. The name is derived from the mountain next to the first event site, which arose from the overburden of the nearby Victoria mine and is popularly called the slag mountain .

The festival

The Rocco del Schlacko was initially held for one day, from 2006 for two days and since 2010 for three days. The musical focus is on rock / punk / indie, but rap and electro is also on offer. history

The Rocco del Schlacko took place in its early years from 1999 to 2003 on the sports grounds of HSV Victoria 1969 Püttlingen near the eponymous Schlackenberg . After the festival grew more and more, it moved to Köllner Platz in the center of the Püttlingen district of Köllerbach for 2004 and 2005 . Since 2006, the Rocco del Schlacko has been taking place on a festival site called Sauwasen between the Püttlinger district of Herchenbach and the Saarwellingen district of Schwarzenholz , directly on the federal motorway 8 , and has been extended to two days and the possibility of camping. Since 2008 the Rocco del Schlacko Festival has established itself in the German festival calendar with a maximum of 28,000 visitors.

In 2011, the Karlsberg brewery became the main sponsor of the festival alongside Sparda-Bank Südwest . For the first time this year, more extensive coverage was broadcast on some commercial channels.

In 2020 the festival had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic .
