Band history

The members had been playing together for six years when it finally came to the first release in April 2004, the Stay Young EP . Sugarplum Fairy had their first hit in Sweden a little later with the single Sweet Jackie (September 2004). In the same month the debut album Young & Armed followed (released in Europe and Japan in February 2005) and in early 2005 Far Away From Man was released as a single.

On April 1, 2006, they presented songs from their second album for the first time at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt am Main. It was released on August 18 and is entitled First Round, First Minute (an allusion to Muhammad Ali ). The first single had already been released on August 4th, a double A-side with the songs She and Last Chance .

In autumn 2006 they toured Germany, Austria and Switzerland and were supported by Nice Boy Music.

Victor Norén played a supporting role in the film Das wilde Leben , which came to German cinemas on February 1, 2007, in which he played Mick Jagger.

Further tours through Germany followed in 2007, where they played at numerous festivals (including Rock am Ring , Rock im Park , Bochum Total , Southside , Hurricane Festival , Frequency Festival and Das Fest ).

In the summer of 2008 they already presented the first songs from the new album at several festivals. a. at the Abifestival in Lingen. In autumn 2008 the band finally released their third album, The Wild One, recorded in Málaga , Spain, and Hamburg . The first single for Germany was the Sugarplum Fairy-untypical song "Never Thought I'd Say That It's Alright", followed by the cover Bus Stop (originally by the Hollies ). The video clip for the former was shot in Berlin on the Wannsee , the Bus Stop clip in Addis Ababa . For Sweden, the first single was the album opener "The Escapologist", for which there is also a video clip. At the end of March 2009, the third single for Germany, including a self-produced video that was shot with a hand-held camera, was released, “You Can't Kill Rock'n'Roll”. The material for the video comes for the most part from the album recording time, in which they had already published individual studio video blogs on myspace and youtube while the recordings were being made.

A week before the album was released, the band began their big tour, which took them from Sweden via Germany to Austria and Switzerland. She was accompanied by the opening act Sahara Hotnights .
