Scrap border is a German indie band founded in Peine in 1994 .

history

Scrap border was founded in 1994 by Alex Tsitsigias and Timo Sauer. The group played German-language pop-punk in the 1990s, the one with the 1998 album Super. found its climax. In later years Scrap Frontier changed style to wavy indie rock and post-punk. Over the years, the group existed in different line-ups and played around 300 concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

1995 appeared after two demo tapes , the vinyl - EP dishonest, deceitful and stinkfaul , a few months later was followed by the first album and national concert tours. In 1998 the album Super was released , in 1999 the singles and sampler compilation Reibung, Baby! After an extensive tour of Germany, the group paused for two years.

Between 2000 and 2002 the band moved to Hamburg and returned in 2003 with Vaganten and Renegaten . About 50 concerts in Germany and Austria followed. At the end of 2004 the Hamburg label Weird System released the album The End of Our Time (Mix: Tobias Levin). The (video) decoupling Belladonna and binoculars attracted attention on TV and independent radio stations. In addition, Schrottenze played live at Kuttner twice . The 2004/2005 tour includes almost 100 concerts.

In 2006 Tobias Levin produced the album Château Schrottgrenze . The album is almost entirely devoid of the punky sounds of the early days of the scrap metal and shows the group's preference for wavy, melancholic songs. This was followed by around 60 château concerts as well as the singles At the same sea and photo laboratory . In 2007 a joint split 7 "was released with the bands junges glueck , Herrenmagazin and Janka . Before the recording of the sixth album, there were again personnel changes in the band. Bassist Mr. Pohn and drummer Caddy left the band. The new man on bass was Christoph" Zombo "Kohler, who had previously played for junges glueck . Benni Thiel took over the drums from then on. In May 2007, the recordings for the new album began in the Hamburg Soundgarden studio with Peta Devlin as producer. The resulting album Schrottism was released on 19. October 2007. In the autumn months they played a total of 24 concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In April 2008 the band announced on their Myspace page that they would take an indefinite break for private reasons (solo careers and family issues). Singer and guitarist Alex Tsitsigias devoted himself to other projects during the break. So he joined the Hamburg bands Saboteur , Das Bierbeben and Station 17 .

The band gave their last concert in Jülich on June 12, 2010 and then split up.

On May 15, 2014, in honor of the 10-year stage anniversary of the band Herrenmagazin , they played a twenty-minute set alongside Janka , junges glueck and Findus in the Hamburg club Uebel & Hazardous . According to the band, this should be a one-time reunion. However, three "gala" concerts were announced for 2015 on the occasion of the release of the best-of compilation "FOTOLABOR 1995-2015", as well as several festival appearances. Hauke Röh ( Mrs. Potz , Station 17 ) is now on bass .

In autumn 2016, the band announced that they would release their new album Glitzer auf Beton on January 20, 2017 via the Hamburg indie label Mural Records . In addition, from February 2017 scrap limits will go on an extended club tour for the first time.
