Sarah Kuttner - The Show

The program contained typical elements of a late night show , such as the editor Sven Schuhmacher acting as a “ sidekick ” , the central desk or a separate studio band, and was aimed primarily at a young audience .

In every program there was at least one talk guest (from Michael Stipe to Bernd Begemann ) and a musical act or comedian on stage. Thereby mainly alternative artists such as Adam Green , Mando Diao , The International Noise Conspiracy or Moneybrother appeared, which is why parallels were repeatedly drawn to the former show Fast Forward with Charlotte Roche .

Celebrities and friends of the show had their say in clips; regularly Roger Willemsen , Moneybrother and Helge Schneider . In other sections, Kuttner presented, among other things, unusual professions (“Somebody has to do it”) or the “crap of the week”. In quizzes, viewers from the studio audience were regularly included.

Furthermore, there were contributions in the show by Michael Wigge , who was on the road as an outside reporter and carried out unusual campaigns or assignments, sometimes with celebrities.

Kuttner caused a stir when she vigorously crushed a beetle on the studio floor live and in close-up .

Possible withdrawal

Sarah Kuttner - The show aired four times a week until the end of 2004. Due to the takeover of the former competitor VIVA by the MTV parent company Viacom and the associated realignment of the music channels MTV , MTV2 Pop , VIVA and VIVA Plus , there were discussions in the media about a possible suspension of the show. Rumors said that Kuttner's show was no longer planned in the first program schemes of the future broadcasting family, as Kuttner's show no longer fit into the VIVA program, which now broadcasts such as The Graduating Class.

Kuttner countered these speculations in the program itself aggressively by expressing her displeasure with the unclear, speculative future.

Due to the following numerous protests by fans and VIVA employees, it was finally decided to keep the program and, from January 19, 2005, to broadcast it only twice a week. As an innovation, however, the show was even temporarily shown live .
