The Falling Carrier Pigeons are a punk band from Hanover .

history

The band was founded in 1983 and consisted of Konrad Kittner ( vocals , guitar, drums ) and Mirco "Micro" Bogumil (born July 16, 1967 in Hanover; vocals, guitar, drums). Stylistically they can be assigned to fun punk , the band name is an obvious corruption of the name of the industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten . The carrier pigeons became known throughout Germany through tours and numerous reports in the magazine Bravo . At their concerts, they often changed instruments and encouraged concert-goers to stage diving . In Hape Kerkeling's film No Pardon (1993) they played two punk cable carriers in a guest role .

In 1993 Oliver Rosthal (vocals, drums) joined the band as the third man, and so Konrad and Micro were able to use both guitar and electric bass . In 1997 the band officially broke up, but got back together again in 2002 to perform one last time with the original line- up at the 30th anniversary festival of the UJZ Glocksee in Hanover.

On May 11, 2006, founding member Konrad Carls (née Kittner) died of cardiac arrest at the age of 44. His grave is in the Engesohder cemetery in Hanover. In 2009, as a summary of the band's history, the double DVD 25 Years Are Enough was released , initiated by Konrad Carls and on which he still played a major role. The DVD contains Punkrockrente, the last joint studio recording by the duo, which was made shortly before Carls' death.

After the band broke up, Mirco “Micro” Bogumil played with Scarring Face and until the end of 2008 as a guitarist with Smelly Caps . In mid-2013 he reactivated the crashing carrier pigeons. New band members were the bassist Tim and the drummer Oliver Sauerland (both from Okli Polki and No ass bueno ). The first concerts took place in June 2013 in Peine and in August in the Bad Musiktheater near Hanover. Since the end of 2013, Micro and Olli have been playing together again.

On March 16, 2016, the band released Never Again Pegida, the first new song in 23 years. On September 23, 2016, the album Doofgesagt Leben longer was released . In the FanBox there is a CD version of the first demo cassette Ein Blödman rarely comes alone with a new edition of the coloring book that was included at the time.

Bogumil announced on October 24, 2017 on the band's Facebook page "due to differing views on the future of the pigeons" the separation from drummer Sauerland. The press reported the band's breakup that same day. According to a Facebook post on February 18, 2018, the band has found themselves together again with a new line-up with Norm Anderspunk as a new partner of Micro Bogumil and is planning new concerts, which include a. with the Christmas tour “The doves never sound sweeter” get a continuation.
