history

The bank was created in 2000 from the merger of Sparda-Bank Mainz (formerly Eisenbahnsparkasse Mainz , before that Reichsbahnsparkasse Mainz ) with Sparda-Bank Saarbrücken (former Eisenbahnsparkasse Saarbrücken ). This had been preceded by other mergers , for example with the Reichsbahn-Spar- und Kreditkasse Ludwigshafen (Rhine) on March 31, 1937 after the Reichsbahndirektion Mainz took over the Reichsbahndirektion Ludwigshafen .

A direct banking channel was operated under the name finosdirect (Finance-Online-Service by Sparda-Bank Südwest eG), which, however, was dissolved in 2018 and integrated into Sparda-Bank Südwest eG.

On January 1, 2020, Manfred Stang, a former railroad worker, took up the position of CEO .
