history

The company was founded in 1931 by the banker Richard Bauer as a limited partnership under the name Bankhaus Bauer KG in Stuttgart. During the Second World War , the business premises were destroyed by a bomb attack. The company headquarters were relocated to Schwäbisch Gmünd at short notice in 1944 . After the end of the war, the headquarters were moved back to Stuttgart in 1945. In 1986 the company was transformed into the Aktiengesellschaft Bankhaus Bauer AG .

In 1992 the Schuppli Group from Wiesbaden , the Hypothekenbank in Essen AG and the Hypothekenbank in Berlin AG took part in the company. The shares in the Schuppli Group and Hypothekenbank in Berlin AG were taken over in 1994 by Commerzbank AG, which thus became the majority owner of Bankhaus Bauer AG. In 2001 the Schuppli Group, which also includes Düsseldorfer Hypothekenbank AG, again acquired the majority in the bank. Under the management board spokesman Wolfgang Kuhn , the investment volume of the bank increased between 1997 and 2006 from 123 million euros to more than 700 million euros. In May 2006, Kuhn left Bankhaus Bauer AG at his own request.

Against the background of the new Pfandbrief Act , the Schuppli Group merged its two subsidiaries, Düsseldorfer Hypothekenbank AG and Bankhaus Bauer AG , in 2006 . Bankhaus Bauer AG was merged with Düsseldorfer Hypothekenbank AG and then operated as its dependent branch .

In 2010, Bankhaus Bauer AG was founded or spun off . The majority shareholder in the new company was Raiffeisenbank Reutte reg.Gen.mbH from Reutte in Tyrol, Austria.

In March 2015, BB Beteiligungs GmbH from Essen took over the shares in Raiffeisenbank Reutte reg.Gen.mbH. The previous activities and customer contacts will be continued without restriction. However, the business model is to be expanded significantly in the coming years. Both the expansion into new business areas and product additions in the financing area are planned.

The first expansion was a branch in Essen in January 2017 , for which the former BHF Bank manager André Weber was hired as head of private customer care in Essen.
