The Gabler Saliter Banking AG (short: Gabler Saliter Bank ) is an owner-managed private bank in the legal form of a joint stock company based in Obergünzburg in Allgäu . There are branches in Babenhausen , Dietmannsried and Kempten .

history

The origins of the Gabler-Saliter-Bank go back to the year 1713. This year married Johann Georg Gabler in Obergünzburg the daughter of Saliterers Sebastian Feigele and took over the tedious business of saltpetre -Gewinnung from which at that time gunpowder was manufactured. In order to increase the income, the family began to boil butter bought from the surrounding farmers into long-life clarified butter . The lard was soon sold to Switzerland and Alsace. As a result, the Saliter Milchwerke emerged from the lard business.

The eponymous nitric boiler was abandoned in the middle of the 19th century. The Saliter Milchwerke were taken over by the Allgäuer Ehrmann AG in 1988 and is now a subsidiary of the Ehrmann Group as JM Gabler Saliter GmbH & Co. KG - Milchwerk .

The Gabler's banking business has been in business since January 5, 1828: On this day Johann Michael Gabler (1794–1862) granted a four percent interest loan of 100  guilders for the first time. Until 1838 he only lent his own capital. That year, the first customer deposited money with him against interest: the country doctor Wankmüller invested 1,000 guilders.

The bank can now look back on 188 years of company history. On October 25, 2016, the bank , which had previously been run as a limited partnership , changed its name to a stock corporation .

The Gabler-Saliter-Bank is a universal bank . The focus is on supporting corporate and private customers, as well as the real estate business via Saliter Immobilien GmbH. In addition to local businesses, the bank's target customers are primarily wealthy private customers and corporate customers.

The bank is a member of the Federal Association of German Banks and its deposit protection fund , as well as of the ATM network Cashpool .
