history

The house was founded in 1774 as Gräflich Castell -Remlingen'sche Landes-Credit-Cassa. In 1857, the Graeflich Castell'sche Neue Credit-Casse was also founded, which concentrated on corporate business and asset management. Both houses merged in 1941 to form the Fürstlich Castell'schen Bank. In 2001 the company was converted into a partnership limited by shares (KGaA). With effect from August 1, 2006, the legal form was changed to the current stock corporation. In the fall of 2017, the public learned that a senior bank employee with general power of attorney had committed significant fraud . When the 2018 annual results were presented, it became known that the bank was in financial and organizational difficulties. A total of 7 financial advisors from Castell-Bank switched to Bethmann Bank , which will open a branch in Würzburg in 2020. In September 2019, the chairman of the board, Sebastian Klein, also left the institute.
