history

The bank was founded on July 1, 1913 by Ludwig Sperrer. At the age of 25, he took over the Freising branch of the Munich bank AM & J. Heilbronner , which he had previously headed for three years.

In 1917 Ludwig Sperrer was called up for military service. That is why he sold his bank to Bayerische Handelsbank (merged into Hypo Real Estate in 2001 ), but remained managing director himself. After the First World War he bought the company back. From 1922 the bank had its headquarters at Mittleren Hauptstrasse 8 (today Oberen Hauptstrasse 11).

In 1921 his brother Kaspar also founded a bank in Moosburg. After his death in 1930 this was one in collaboration with his widow Elisabeth in the form of general partnership incorporated into Freisinger Sperrerbank. In 1992 the two companies were ultimately merged into one.

After the death of his father in 1961, Hans Sperrer took over the bank. In 1972 the bank moved into a new building on Marienplatz , which it continues to use. The subsidiary Efdis has existed since 1997 and develops, sells and operates a core banking system and online banking software for customers. The bank is run in the third generation by Christian Sperrer.
