The Mercury private bank KGaA is an owner listed German private bank based in Munich .
history
In 1959, Zanwel Horowicz, Motek and Hela Horowicz founded Merkur Bank Horowicz KG . At that time the business activity was limited to the sale of medals and varieties . A group of investors led by the Swabian entrepreneur Siegfried Lingel took over Merkur Bank Horowicz KG in 1986 and founded Merkur Bank GmbH & Co. KG . Merkur Bank then took up the universal banking business, initially with a focus on property developer financing.
In 1989, the bank took over parts of the Bankhaus Sinzinger KG and thus expanded its business activities to Ingolstadt. Expansion into the new federal states began in 1991 with the opening of a branch in Auerbach . In the following years others followed in Treuen , Weimar , Jena , Markneukirchen and Plauen , as well as a representative office for property developers in Stuttgart.
In November 1998 the bank was converted into a partnership limited by shares . Merkur Bank shares have been listed on the Munich Stock Exchange with securities identification number 814820 since 1999, and in the m: access segment since 2005 .
Takeover of Bank Schilling & Co. AG
In October 2019, Merkur Bank took over major parts of the banking business from Schilling & Co and has since operated under the MERKUR PRIVATBANK brand , which became the company in July 2020. 250 Schilling & Co AG employees were also taken over by Merkur Bank.
Private customers
In addition to asset management in private banking , Merkur Privatbank also focuses on the sector of securities and interest investments as well as private accounts.
Business customers
The main task for Merkur Privatbank is medium-sized business financing, property developer financing and leasing refinancing, as well as the provision of business accounts.
Deposit insurance
The legally guaranteed deposit protection of up to 100,000 euros per person is covered for Merkur Privatbank by the compensation facility of German banks GmbH (EdB). The bank is also a member of the deposit protection fund of the Federal Association of German Banks . This secures deposits from natural persons and private foundations that exceed 100,000 euros per person up to an amount of 20% of the liable equity of the respective member bank. In the case of Merkur Privatbank KGaA, the security limit per customer is more than 22 million euros.
Core banking system
The Bank is the cooperative data center of Fiducia IT & GAD in Karlsruhe connected and uses as banking software whose banking procedures agree21 .
