The GAD eG. Until the merger with Fiducia IT AG to form Fiducia & GAD IT AG on June 30, 2015, it was an IT service provider , data center and software house for the Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks in northern and western Germany, based in Münster . In the 2013 financial year, the GAD group of companies generated sales of EUR 761 million. In addition to the headquarters in Münster, GAD is also represented with an office in Frankfurt am Main .

With the banking software bank21 , GAD offered its customers a multi-client, integrated overall banking solution that covered all areas of the banking business and had a modular structure. As of 2007, all GAD member banks switched from the previous method BB3 to bank21.

history

The GAD (former acronym for G esellschaft für A utomatic D atenverarbeitung) was founded on December 26th, 1963 as the first cooperative data center in north-west Germany, further foundations followed in several other cities. When GAD was founded, it had 23 employees. First in the legal form of a GmbH , it was converted into an eG in 1966. This year, GAD already processed 30 million posting items . In 1971 the data center of the West German Volksbanks flowed into GAD.

In 1974, GAD was the first cooperative computer center to use microfilm . From 1978 onwards, GAD customers were able to access current data in the data center online and change them. With the introduction of the screen text in 1983, GAD was the first data center in Germany to be accessible to customers around the clock. With Home Cash for private and professional cash for professional users, GAD introduced a forerunner of the later Internet banking for its customers in 1996 . Cashless payment transactions could now be processed from home around the clock .

In 1997, GAD took over GFI , a merger of the cooperative computing centers in Cologne and Koblenz . 2001 saw the transfer of operations according to § 613 BGB of the GRZ Genossenschafts-Rechenzentrale Norddeutschland GmbH , based in Lehrte, through the GAD Society for Automatic Data Processing eG to GAD eG . All member banks were connected to the data center in Münster in 2002.

At the beginning of 2006 exploratory talks were held with the IT service provider for Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks in southern Germany, Fiducia IT AG , about a possible company merger, but these failed. In January 2008, Anno Lederer, CEO of GAD, announced a merger for 2010. In 2010 the number of booking items was over 2.25 billion with around 29.7 million managed accounts.

In 2011, due to pressure from the owners, exploratory talks were resumed with Fiducia. In the course of these negotiations, there were disagreements regarding a possible future legal form, which led to the negotiations being broken off again. In addition, the previous deputy chairman of GAD, Elmar Pritsch, resigned from his post.

At the beginning of October 2014, it was announced that the supervisory boards of the two companies had unanimously voted in favor of the merger. On November 26, 2014, the GAD General Assembly, consisting of the GAD member banks, voted 94% for the merger of the two cooperative computer centers. On December 4, the extraordinary general meeting of Fiducia voted with 100 percent for the merger of the two houses. The merger to " Fiducia & GAD IT AG " took place on June 30, 2015.

Services

Banking software bank21

Logo from bank21

With bank21 , GAD offered an application process for credit institutions with a focus on retail business that covered all areas of banking. With bank21, credit institutions were able to set the focus of their business activities and individually design internal and cross-company processes for the in- and outsourcing of business areas. The modular bank21 technology supports banks in using the functions required for business operations individually or in scaling them in cooperation on a common database. The conception of bank21 envisaged that the cooperative association partners with their products and services would be integrated into the system. bank21 was thus an integration platform that creates a direct route to bank customers as well as important partners.

safety

GAD also provided modern security solutions for online banking. The two-step TAN processes Sm @ rtTAN plus , Sm @ rtTAN optic as well as Sm @ rtSign and mobileTAN were offered. These TANs are only valid for a specific transfer order and not for any other order. Fraudsters cannot use an intercepted TAN for another order.

This existing portfolio has been supplemented by the "signature card" as a new security medium in Internet banking and Internet brokerage: for the secure processing of bank transactions via the Internet, the bank customer only needs his VR BankCard (EC card) with HBCIready function and a special card reader with display ( Secoder ).
