The Sparda-Bank Hannover eG is a German cooperative bank from the group of Sparda banks . It has 15 branches and 17 self-service locations in the Hanover , Bremen , Braunschweig , Göttingen and Bielefeld area (as of December 31, 2019).

history

The Sparda-Bank Hannover was founded in 1903 as a savings and loan fund by railway officials and workers in the Hanover Railway Directorate District . The self-help institution should provide its members with services, facilities and business connections without wanting to achieve high net profits. At first only railway employees could become members, since 1974 all employees. Sparda-Bank Hannover is one of the largest north German cooperative banks , it promotes cultural and social projects. The main office is located in the building of the Hotel Royal , which was built in 1846 and closed in 1934. It was restored after the war and fundamentally rebuilt in 2000/2001.

In 2020, the Sparda banks in Hanover and Berlin started talks about a possible merger.

checking account

The current account is generally no longer free of charge for members as a wage, salary or pension account. Sparda-Bank Hannover has been charging an annual fee of 12 euros for the bank card or girocard since 2016 . As of 2019, Sparda-Bank Hannover will charge an account management fee of at least three euros per month for the SpardaDirect account and five euros per month for the SpardaClassic account. The account for young members is still free.
