BRKN (* 21st January 1991 in Berlin as Andaç Berkan Akbiyik ) is a German rapper, singer and music producer with Turkish (including Kurdish and Armenian) roots.

Life

BRKN grew up in Berlin-Kreuzberg . There he attended the Otto Wels elementary school; After the fourth grade he switched to a humanistic grammar school in neighboring Wilmersdorf. Father and mother, who work as drug therapists and qualified pedagogues, attached importance not only to the school, but also to the musical training of BRKN: at the age of six he received piano lessons , at nine he learned the saxophone . He then taught himself other instruments as an autodidact . When he was twelve he started rapping and singing. After graduating from high school, he studied architecture and earned his bachelor's degree.

Even as a teenager, he became part of the Kreuzberg rap group WBR Department , which later became the music label BEST grew, the BRKN is still a member. BRKN's musical influences include hip-hop , funk , neo-soul and R'n'B . After various feature songs, u. a. with Berlin rappers like Mach One and Said , as well as productions a. a. for KIZ or BattleBoi Basti , BRKN released his first solo EP Yeah Bitch Yeah on October 31, 2014. In November 2014, BRKN supported rapper Alligatoah on his acoustic tour as a support act; This was followed by a collaboration for BRKN's next EP, Knste ein Kennste alle . In 2016 the debut album Kauft meine Liebe was released , which was accompanied by a bonus CD with French-language acoustic versions of his songs. The album Einzimmervilla followed . In 2018 he got Herbert Grönemeyer , with whom he interpreted the song "Doppelherz / İki Gönlüm".
