Dave Home (born March 12, 1978 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , USA) is an American singer and songwriter.

Life

At home, Dave haus grew up listening to music by Bob Dylan , The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen . An uncle took Dave to a concert of his first favorite band, The Hooters , at the age of eight , which sparked his enthusiasm for live music at an early age. As a teenager, home was shaped by metal and punk from bands like Aerosmith , Iron Maiden , Metallica , Misfits and The Clash . As a teenager, Dave Heim began his career as a guitarist and later as a singer and front man in various hardcore and punk bands in Philadelphia.

In the 1990s, Dave home was the guitarist in a hardcore / punk band called Step Ahead . After the band split up, home (guitar, backing vocals) and Brendan Hill started the band The Curse . He gained access to the punk scene at the age of 20 as a merchandiser for Kid Dynamite and as a roadie for Sick Of It All and The Bouncing Souls , which enabled him to make important contacts and experience. From 2002 to 2004 he was a guitarist in the band Paint It Black .

In April 2004, Dave home founded the punk band The Loved Ones , in which he took over the part of lead singer and main songwriter for the first time in addition to the guitar. The band toured a. a. with The Bouncing Souls and NOFX . In 2010 The Loved Ones ceased their activity, whereupon Dave Heim continued his career as a solo artist.

As early as 2009, Dave home began recording his first solo album called Resolutions , which was released in January 2011. On April 12, 2011, a music video for the song Time Will Tell was released. The video pays homage to Martin Scorsese's short film The Big Shave (1967). In 2011 Dave Heimat was part of the Revival Tour , along with Chuck Ragan , Brian Fallon ( The Gaslight Anthem ) and Dan Adriano ( Alkaline Trio ). This tour helped him gain a growing audience, especially in Europe, and reinforced his focus on his solo career.

On October 8, 2013, his second solo album Devour was released. In December 2014 the song "Seasons Greetings From Ferguson" was released in the form of a lyric video. The song addresses the police violence against blacks in the USA and relates to the death of Michael Brown . The song was later used in a video for the Ferguson Action campaign.

Dave home's third solo album, Bury Me In Philly , was released on February 3, 2017, recorded and produced in Philadelphia by Eric Bazilian ( The Hooters ) and William Wittman . A few days before the official release, the full length of the album could already be heard on several websites. Described by Rolling Stone as a union of punk and Americana, this - in contrast to Devour - positive and hopeful album is essentially shaped by a new love, the move from Philadelphia to California and the new musical collaboration with Dave's brother Tim Haus.

After Dave Heim had only performed live with his solo material, either alone or as a duo, an accompanying band was put together for the first time for the Bury Me In Philly tour. With Dave's brother Tim on lead guitar, Miles Bentley on bass, Kevin Conroy on drums and Kayleigh Goldsworthy on keyboard, Dave Heimat & The Mermaid played a total of 139 concerts in 2017. After several record release concerts in the USA, the Bury Me In Philly tour led to Europe, where the band's first concert on March 1, 2017 in Cologne was recorded by WDR for the TV program Rockpalast .

style

In his musical development, the initially aggressive type of presentation faded into the background in favor of a more melodic sound and a stronger focus on the lyrics. In his early 30s he finally started his solo career as a singer-songwriter . Today Dave Haus names musicians like Tom Petty , Patty Griffin and Brandi Carlile as his greatest musical role models.
