William Wittman

William Wittman (born September 16, 1952 ) is an American music producer , sound engineer , musician and songwriter . He was best known for his productions for Cyndi Lauper , The Outfield , The Fixx , Joan Osborne and Lloyd Cole . His best-known songs include Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper and Say It Isn't So by The Outfield.

life and career

William Wittman began his career as a musician, but soon developed his special talent as a sound engineer by working on the mixer for various music groups and solo artists. In 1978 he put the finishing touches on Michael Stanley's album Cabin Fever . Since 1982 he has also been responsible for numerous albums as a producer. As a music producer and recording technician, his credits include the platinum debut albums of the 1980s and 1990s by Cyndi Lauper , The Hooters , The Outfield and Joan Osborne . He has worked as a musician on numerous albums, including bass, guitar, keyboard and vocals. As a musician, he has appeared nationwide on television shows such as The Late Show by David Letterman , the Rosie O'Donnell Show , the Late Late Show by Craig Kilborn and Ellen DeGeneres . He was a member of the alternative rock band Too Much Joy. Today he plays bass guitar in Cyndi Lauper's band, both on her studio recordings and on her international tours. Wittman also looks after the artist, with whom he has been close friends for years, as a musical advisor.

Wittman also worked as a chief engineer at various recording studios. He was also A & R Vice President and Producer at major record labels such as (RCA / BMG Records and Columbia / Sony Records) for several years.

At the Grammy Awards 2014 he was awarded a Grammy as co-producer of the musical album for Kinky Boots by Cyndi Lauper.

William Wittman now lives and works in New York as an independent producer, sound engineer, musician and songwriter .
