Girls Just Want to Have Fun is a pop song by Cyndi Lauper from 1983 that appeared on the album She's So Unusual . The piece was written by Robert Hazard in 1979 . In Lauper's version, Hazard's text has been changed so that it is shown from a female perspective.
The single release of the play was in the UK with silver, in Japan with the gold record in the United States with platinum and in Canada awarded double platinum.
The song can be heard in the episode Legends of the Mall by Daria and in the episode Freaks & Geeks by Drawn Together . In 1994, (Hey Now) Girls Just Want to Have Fun, a reggae version of the song sung by Lauper, was released .
Music video
The music video was shot in the summer of 1983. The father in the video was played by Lou Albano , and Lauper's mother was played by her birth mother, Cathrine Dominique Lauper. The dance partner was Lauper's lawyer Elliot Hoffman.
