Soraya Arnelas
Soraya Arnelas (born September 13, 1982 in Valencia de Alcántara , Province of Cáceres ) is a Spanish pop singer . She is best known for the casting show Operación Triunfo (2004-2005). Her songs are mostly to be assigned to dance pop .
life and career
She lived with her parents in Valencia de Alcántara in the western Spanish province of Cáceres until she was twelve, after which they moved to Madrid . When she came of age, she began to study acting there, which she dropped out to become a flight attendant . She practiced this profession until she took part in Operación Triunfo .
2004-2005
From 2004 to 2005 she took part in the TV casting show Operación Triunfo . She made it to the finals, but she was only second. Nevertheless, she took the record label Santander Records under contract.
In 2005 Arnela's first single, Mi mundo sin ti , was released in Spain . The first album Corazón de fuego followed in December of the same year . The single made it to number 5 in the single, in the airplay charts even at No. 1. The album, which was produced entirely by Kike Santander, reached number 13 in the album charts and went platinum .
2006-2007
After the release of the title song Corazón de fuego as a single, Soraya Arnelas canceled her record deal with Santander Records and signed with Vale Music , a sub-label of Universal . Then the pre-single Self Control (a cover version of the 80s hit by Laura Branigan ) was released for her second album Ochenta's . The single was her greatest success to date, and after a short time she was number 1 in the Spanish single charts. A little later, Self Control also achieved gold status , the new album, which in addition to the pre-release also contained other English-language cover versions, like its predecessor platinum, stayed in the chart for almost a whole year and reached number 5.
The second single from Ochenta's , Call Me (a cover version of the 80s hit by Spagna ) was less successful and only placed outside the top 10.
2007-2008
The pre-release single from the third album of the same name, Dolce Vita (the song was a cover version of the 80s hit by singer Ryan Paris ) was released in 2007 and had similar success as the previous singles and was even awarded the gold record, as well as something later also the album. During this time, sales fell slightly, the album "only" sold around 40,000 times in Spain, while its predecessors even sold around 80,000 copies.
Words was chosen as the second single from the album Dolce Vita in early 2008 . However, only 14th place was reached, in the airplay charts the single was even in the top 5.
2008-2009
In spring 2008 it was announced that Soraya Arnelas had recorded a duet ( Tonight We Ride / No digas que no ) with Belgian singer Kate Ryan for her new dance / electro-pop album Free , which was released in May of the same year . In return, Arnela's fourth album Sin miedo also features a song with Ryan ( Cáminare ). This promotion has already borne fruit through the success of Ryan's single Ella elle l'a in summer 2008; The sound carrier was number 1 in the Spanish single charts for nine weeks and achieved eight platinum status. On the other hand, the international fame of Kate Ryan should help for a success of Arnela's new album in several European countries, especially in Belgium.
In October 2008 a new single was also released, shortly before the album of the same name Sin miedo .
In May 2009 she represented Spain in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song La noche es para mí . When the Norwegian Alexander Rybak won , she finished penultimate in the field of 25 finalists.
