Paloma San Basilio (born November 22, 1950 in Madrid ) is a Spanish singer and musical artist .

In Spain and South America she became famous as the leading actress in the Spanish-language version of the musical Evita . She was commissioned to represent Spain at the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest in Gothenburg . Her pop ballad La fiesta terminó only reached 14th place. She remained loyal to musicals and was then seen in the plays The Man of La Mancha , My Fair Lady and Victor / Victoria . In 1991 she played a concert with Plácido Domingo , which was later released on DVD.

In 2006 San Basilio received the Latin Grammy Award for her life's work .
