Arcângelo de Jesus Gouveia Leite is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Partido Democrático (PD) .

Life

After completing the secondary level at the Colégio de São José in 1986, he completed his studies in administration with a bachelor's degree at the APDN in Kalimantan, Indonesia in 1990 . In Jakarta , Leite graduated from the Government Institute for Science of Ilmu Permerintahan in 1995. During his studies he was an active member of the Resistência Nacional dos Estudantes de Timor-Leste RENETIL (National Resistance of Students from Timor-Leste).

In 2002 Leite worked as an observer of the Constituent Assembly of East Timor, from which the national parliament emerged on May 20th with independence . From 2003 to 2006 he was part of the working group on the definition of the state border. He also explored the opportunities for governments at the local level.

On August 8, 2007, Leite was sworn in as Minister of State Administration of East Timor, succeeding Ana Pessoa Pinto . Before that he worked in the ministry as the national director for territorial administration.

In 2011, Leite was confronted with allegations of abuse of office and corruption. After the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , Leite gave his ministerial office to his successor Jorge da Conceição Teme .

Leite has been a member of the State Council since 2018 .
