Samuel Mendonça is a politician from East Timor . He is Deputy General Secretary of the Partido Democrático (PD) . From 2015 to 2017 he was State Secretary for State Administration

Political career

In the elections to the constituent assembly , Mendonça ran for 22nd place on the PD list, but the party only received seven seats. However, since several candidates gave up their seat, moved Mendonça into the meeting after that with the dismissal of East Timor to independence on 20 May 2002 to the National Parliament of East Timor was. He was later replaced by Nominando Soares Martins during the legislature .

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , Mendonça was hopelessly on the 25th place on the PD list. On February 20, before the elections, Mendonça and party leader Fernando de Araújo were attacked by a mob. Mendonça suffered a head injury. His car was destroyed.

In the 2012 elections , Mendonça was ranked 11th on the list. The PD only won eight seats in the East Timorese national parliament in 2012 , but Mendonça would have had to forego a seat anyway, as he became State Secretary for Local Development on August 8, 2012 ( tetum Secretariadu Estadu Desenvolvimentu Local SEDL ) was sworn in. With the government reshuffle in 2015, Mendonça became State Secretary for State Administration on February 16.

In March 2016, the coalition between CNRT and PD broke over the dispute over the military commander in chief and the conflict between government and parliament on the one hand and President Taur Matan Ruak on the other. To ensure the stability of the government, Mendonça and the other members of the PD in the cabinet announced their temporary resignation. They kept their offices as independent politicians. When the VII government took office in 2017, Mendonça left the cabinet.
