Filomeno Aleixo da Cruz (born February 11, 1958 ) is an East Timorese politician and diplomat.

Career

Aleixo first attended the Nossa Senhora da Fatima seminary in Dili before studying humanism and theology at the Catholic School of Philosophy ( Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Katolik ) in Ledalero ( Maumere , Flores / Indonesia ) from 1980 to 1984 .

Under Prime Minister José Ramos-Horta , Aleixo was sworn in on July 14, 2006 alongside Valentim Ximenes as another Deputy Minister for State Administration. He kept the office under his successor Estanislau da Silva and did not leave the government until August 8, 2007 when the new cabinet under Xanana Gusmão was sworn in . A new Vice Minister for State Administration was not appointed. Aleixo worked in the following years as a consultant in the office of the former Prime Minister Marí Alkatiri . He was also a member of the central committee of FRETILIN .

On November 19, 2015, Aleixo was appointed East Timor's new ambassador to Japan by President Taur Matan Ruak . He replaced Isílio Coelho . The accreditation took place on April 6, 2016. On January 28, 2020, Ilídio Ximenes da Costa was appointed Aleixo's successor as ambassador.
