Valentim Ximenes (born September 30, 1966 in Venilale , Portuguese Timor ) is an East Timorese university professor and politician. He is a member of the FRETILIN party .

Career

Ximenes studied at the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL, then Universitas Timor Timur UNTIM). In 1994 he received his Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Political Science there from the Graduate School of Art and Sciences, Ateneo de Manila University .

From July 26, 2005 to August 8, 2007, Ximenes was Vice Minister for State Administration.

Later Ximenes was again, as he had been dean from May 2002, succeeding Vicente Soares Faria , lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Politics at the UNTL and also at the University of Coimbra . His research focused on governance and public administration.

On September 15, 2017, Ximenes was sworn in as Minister of State Administration, replacing Dionísio Babo . The term of office of Ximenes ended with the assumption of the 8th government of East Timor on June 22, 2018.
