Vicente Soares Faria

Vicente Soares Faria is an East Timorese politician and a member of the left-wing FRETILIN .

Faria was Political Coordinator of the East Timorese Intellectual Forum (Forsarepetil) in 1999 and already held a doctorate in public administration from the Universitas Timor Timur (UnTim), later the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL). In May, he reported to the United States House of Representatives about the ongoing violence in East Timor by the Indonesian occupation.

He was Dean of the UNTL's Faculty of Social Sciences and Politics from June 2000, before being replaced by Valentim Ximenes in May 2002 .

In the elections on August 30, 2001 , Faria entered the Constituent Assembly at number 37 on the FRETILIN list. Here he was secretary of the Thematic Committee I.

With the independence of East Timor on May 20, 2002, the assembly became a national parliament and Faria was a member of parliament. After the new elections in June 2007 , Faria left parliament and started teaching again at the UNTL in May 2007.

At the School of Economics and Management at Minho University , Faria completed a Masters Degree in Public Administration from October 2008 to October 2010.
