Constituency history
The constituency of Dakshina Kannada has existed since the Lok Sabha election in 2009. The predecessor constituency was the constituency of Mangalore . When the constituencies were reorganized, the constituency of Mangalore was formed from the majority of the former constituency of Mangalore and smaller parts of the constituencies of Udupi and Chikmagalur, which were also dissolved, to form the constituency of Dakshina Kannada.
