Constituency history
A constituency of Chikballapur already existed in the Lok Sabha election in 1962. In the run-up to the Lok Sabha election in 1967, the constituency of Chikballapur was dissolved and transferred to the constituency of Hoskote . For the 1977 Lok-Sabha election, the constituency of Hoskote was again dissolved and the constituency of Chikballapur re-established. The constituency belonged to the state of Mysore before it was renamed Karnataka in 1973.
