Constituency history

The constituency of Chikkodi has existed since the Lok Sabha election in 1957. The predecessor constituency in the first Lok Sabha election in 1951 was the Belgaum North constituency . Until 1973, the constituency belonged to the state of Mysore , before it was renamed Karnataka . Until 2004, the constituency was reserved for candidates from the lower castes ( Scheduled Castes ).
