Lok Sabha constituency of Mangalore
The Lok Sabha constituency of Mangalore was a constituency in the elections for Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament , from 1957 to 2004 . It belonged to the state of Mysore or, after its renaming in 1973, to the state of Karnataka . The constituency of Mangalore included the districts of Dakshina Kannada with the capital Mangalore and Kodagu . The predecessor constituency in the first Lok Sabha election in 1951 was the constituency of South Canara (South) . In the course of the reorganization of the constituencies before the Lok Sabha election in 2009 , the constituency of Mangalore became the new constituency of Dakshina Kannada . The area of the district of Kodagu, which had previously belonged to the constituency of Mangalore, became part of the constituency of Mysore , while the constituency of Dakshina Kannada was formed from the remaining area of the former constituency of Mangalore and smaller parts of the dissolved constituencies Udupi and Chikmagalur .
